This was an amazing thrift store find for $10.  This is a replica of a Jens Risom lounge chair.  I searched for a signature with no luck. Jens Risom (1941) is a Danish Designer.  The bent wood-plywood and heavy duty cotton webbed strap’s design might be known as the first chair to be designed for Knoll according to the Design within Reach website.

Hi ….I’ve been trying to find anyone who has this chair !!!.So today and recieving your photo from a family member in Texas was amazing . For some reason this chair has gone under the design radar . Are you interested in sharing any information I find and can be found on it in the future . I bought mine for $15 at the Reuseit store in Bracebridge , Ontario , Canada . Mine is also without any markings to indicate designer or make , like yours . A Canadian Design Magazine had a photo of one with items they were featuring but couldn’t tell me anything about the chair because it was part of the apartment furniture where the photo session took place . For certain there are three now that have been located . I love the chair and contemporary design in general . I paint abstract work and design and renovate homes as my way to make ends meet and not get into too much showing of my paintings just for commercial reasons . .
Bruno Matsson is the closest designer I’ve found who work is the closest but I won’t be happy till I get the complete story and confirmed designer , right down to production years and place of construction . ….I just can’t understand why this chair has missed being noticed . It has better lines than many in my opinion and has the timeless look and quality construction of the best designs . I’m on a mission to see it gets recognized but first a name . Could it be that none of them were ever labeled so like many things , they just can’t be processed . I don’t know if I can send photos on this site . I have pictures of mine , if you like I’d be happy to send them to an e-mail site. I’ve just recieved information on a site where the matching webbing can be purchased . Mine has one web that is torn from where . You’ll see in a glance that they are clearly from the same builder . Sorry to go on and on . p.s. I really like your section of tree trunk ! perfect . Paul

Hello! I am not the best with technology and I am sorry it has taken so long to return your message. The one designer I researched for the webbed chair is Jens Risom, 1941, a danish designer (first chair to be designed for Knoll). I wonder if they were popular at one point and replications were made by unknown designers. Thanks so much for the idea on how to repair the webbing! Would love to see a photo of your chair and information on how to repair the webbing.
